     There may just be a time when the ordinary gamer comes across something amazing while traversing the massive world of, say, Grand Theft Auto IV. Perhaps this thing is just so amazing that you need to share it with the world, whether it be on Youtube or Vimeo, but you don't know where to start. Now if you are a PC or Mac gamer the answer is just to download a simple software, chances are for free. However, console gamers, which make up the majority, are not so fortunate. In order to capture amazing gameplay footage from consoles, gamers are required to use a video capture card. These capture cards can prove to be a little pricey. --Wait! What's that? You found a Capture Card on Amazon for $7.00? What? Throw that in your cart brotha'! To be honest, I don't know if you should do that just yet.


      The capture that is being referred to, quite often, above is known as the EasyCap DC60 USB 2.0 Capture device. The device practically flaunts it's abilities by stating that it is able to capture content from VHS and DVD players, Playstation's, Xbox's, Gamecube, The Wii, etc. To make this list even shorter, any device with the Red, Yellow and White A/V output cables.

      One thing that you should be aware of before purchasing this device is that it is not able to capture gameplays above the 480p video quality, which means that the video won't be too flashy. However, if you're not looking to produce "life-changing" HD 1080p quality video then your good to go.
     A few things that I would like to make of note regarding problems that I have personally had with this capture card are as follows. The device's audio capturing abilities are extremely disappointing. What I mean by this is simply that gameplay audio of recording contained a noisy filter. This rendered the recorded audio to point where it was useless. However, if you purchase an RCA adapter it tends to fix the audio a bit. On another note regarding audio, I noticed that the actual recorded audio does not seem to match up with the corresponding video frame. This was another cause of frustration for me with this device. However, after conducting a bit of research I discovered that a video compression codec that I had been using (to keep the file size of the video from filling my computer's memory quite rapidly) was responsible. Basically what I learned was the only way to get fair quality is to record without compressing the video. Trust me! That is a just an extremely hefty file size waiting to happen!

     One more thing that you should be aware of before purchasing this device is the fact that it will take some searching for compatible driver, depending on the version of Windows you are currently running. Yes, the device does come with an installation CD. However, for some reason beyond my knowledge the disc does not install the drivers properly (from my experience).

     All in all, the EasyCap DC60 video capture card makes for a pretty... mediocre capture card when comparing it to that of more high end cards. I guess you really do get what you pay for.
