Saints Row 2 (SR2)starts some 15 years from where the original game left off. You are back in business but Stilwater has changed considerably during your absence and your gang, The Saints, is a mess.
SR2 will have you thinking about Grand Theft Auto but forget the similarities. You have a vast game world to explore, lots of missions, side missions and mayhem to cause and the city really seems alive. If anything, SR2 actually works better than GTA IV in many areas.
You can fully customize your character, from appearance, gender, right down to the underwear. Want to be a cross-dresser? - that and more is possible! Vehicles and gang locations can be customized (pimped) too.
The main aim of the game is to restore the Saint's dominance in Stilwater and this involves taking out the rival gangs that have grown in strength and territory whilst you were gone. You are completely free to take out the rival gangs in whatever order you wish. In SR2, before you can carry out a mission, you need to build up and earn enough respect. This can be done by taking part in the many and varied side missions or simply driving around, shooting rival gang members and causing carnage on your way. Once you have enough respect then you can start a new mission.
Across Stilwater are numerous locations and businesses you can buy. Buying businesses will earn you cash as well as discounts. Graphics and sound wise , SR2 is a pure winner. Gameplay wise, this game is huge and offers hours and hours of fun.
If you've never played the original then SR2 is a great way to get into the franchise, especially as Saints Row "The Third" is out later this year.
SR2 can be bought for a bargain price now from most retailers whilst the original Saints Row is a bit harder to find and thus might cost you more money.
